Normal[]
As all Wishes count as spells, mage and rogue can be very effective classes to take on Zinaar with. The 0-Cost Wishes will easily trigger a Flamewaker, Mana Wyrm and Violet Teacher's effect and spread damage on Zinaar's field, and rogue cards that make use of the Combo mechanic will likewise benefit. If a rogue receives Wishes for spells and uses them, they can benefit from additional access to Combo and removal cards they might not already have in their deck, such as Kidnapper and Betrayal.
Since Zinaar's Hero Power always triggers, forcing him to draw from his deck, a Mill strategy can be very effective. Mill rogues can make use of Sap, Vanish and other removal techniques to prevent Zinaar from gaining momentum while he wastes his deck away, in addition to the minions and spells Discovered via Wishes. Zinaar's Desert Camel also forces him to summon a 1-Cost minion from his deck, wasting it further.
Note that Zinaar's Wishes will take up space in your hand and replace themselves with a Discovered card when used. It may be prudent to Discover cards with cheap costs so they can be played to avoid clogging your hand and wasting your draws at the start of your turn.
Heroic[]
Most of Zinaar's minions are not particularly strong, though his increased mana gain means that he can start playing more costly and powerful minions during the early game, such as Anubisath Sentinel.
Mill rogue remains a decent choice to use, although you will need your cheap removal spells to deal with his stronger minions.
Tempo mage is also a good choice because of cards like Flamewaker, Mana Wyrm and Violet Teacher. Also his wishes are useful because you can get whole bunch of removal like Flamestrike and Blizzard.

Lore[]
Zinaar is original to Hearthstone, a djinn that appears to have been trapped in his shiny lamp for some time. Given the history of the djinn's interactions with the tol'vir shortly after the Cataclysm, he may have been trapped there for several years before Reno inadvertently freed him. It is unknown whether he was imprisoned there by angry tol'vir, or perhaps inadvertently trapped himself while attempting to hide.
- A djinn (pronounced genie) is a type of powerful air elemental that can be found in the Skywall. Most djinn in World of Warcraft are powerful lieutenants of Al'Akir. They made their first appearance during World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
- It was the djinn that gave the tol'vir back their immortality as creatures of stone, in exchange for their allegiance to Deathwing. The only tribe of tol'vir to accept the offer were the Neferset. When the Orsis tribe refused to serve Deathwing, Al'Akir's djinn buried the city beneath a mighty sandstorm.
Trivia[]
- The emote response quote "Phenomenal cosmic power!" is a direct quote from the Genie from the 1992 Disney film Aladdin, voiced by (and visually modelled upon) Robin Williams.
- Zinaar shares the same art as Siamat from the WoW TCG.
