He likes to act like he's in charge, but the silverback matriarch actually runs things.
Silverback Patriarch is a neutral minion card, from the Basic set.
How to get
Prior Year of the Gryphon's rotation on March 30, 2021:
- Two copies of Silverback Patriarch were automatically included in all players' collections upon unlocking the warrior class.
- Two Golden copies of Silverback Patriarch were a reward for raising a warrior to levels 53 and 54.
Strategy
Silverback Patriarch is generally considered an overcosted/understatted card, with very little potential despite its Beast type. New players may find this card of use if building an early game Taunt-heavy deck, but it is otherwise not recommended.
As a Beast, it has synergy with Hunter cards such as 
Starving Buzzard and Scavenging Hyena. There is also some potential synergy with Druid cards like 
Wildwalker and Knight of the Wild.
Within the Basic card set, Silverback Patriarch competes with Ironfur Grizzly in the 3 mana slot, which is superior when stats are compared (2 more Attack at the expense of 1 Health). Various cards from other sets are strictly better/cheaper when compared stat-wise:
Crypt Lord has 2 extra Health and gains more Health when you summon a minion.- Druid of the Swarm costs 1 less, has 1 extra health, and can optionally become a Poisonous 1/2.
- Fierce Monkey is a Beast much like Silverback Patriarch, but has 2 extra Attack for the same mana cost.
- Gnomeregan Infantry has exactly the same stats and Charge.
- Squirming Tentacle has 1 more Attack for the same mana cost.
- Stonehill Defender has the same stats but lets you Discover a Taunt minion.
- Tar Creeper has 1 extra Health and gains attack on your opponent's turn.
- Twilight Geomancer has the same stats while being 1 mana cheaper and also providing the Taunt buff to C'Thun.
Lore
Silverback Patriarchs are level 42-43 gorillas native to Stranglethorn Vale. They can be found northeast of Booty Bay, near the eastern shore of the peninsula.
