That's saberTEETH, not like curved pirate blades. That's a different kind of druid. Druid of the Curved Pirate Blades.
Druid of the Saber is a common druid minion card, from the Grand Tournament set. Its Choose One effect transforms it into one of two possible Beast minions when played.
How to get
Druid of the Saber can be obtained through The Grand Tournament card packs, or through crafting.
Card | Crafting cost | Disenchanting |
---|---|---|
Druid of the Saber | 40 | 5 |
Golden Druid of the Saber | 400 | 50 |
Choose One
- Resulting minions
Combined
If played while in control of Fandral Staghelm or Ossirian Tear, both Choose One options will be chosen, resulting in the below minion.
Notes
- As with all transformations, this minion's change into either Lion or Panther Form is permanent and cannot be undone by Silences or being returned to the hand.[1]
Strategy
A versatile low cost minion - a 3/2 with Stealth can often trade into higher-cost minions, and the 2/1 with Charge (similar to Bluegill Warrior) can deal burst damage as required.
As both forms are Beasts, this card has good synergy with other Druid cards such as Wildwalker and Druid of the Fang.
Quotes
- Summon
- Another night on the prowl.
- Attack
- Hear me ROAR!
- Death
- Meow...
Lore
While Warcraft features many druid sects, such as the Druids of the Claw, Druids of the Flame and Druids of the Fang, the Druids of the Saber are original to Hearthstone.
Little is therefore known about these druids, although they clearly appear to be centred upon transforming into saber-toothed cats, specifically lions and panthers.
Trivia
- The artwork for this card comes from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game "Betrayal of the Guardian" series, for the card Elistari Silverwind.
- Since this minion's Choose One effect normally replaces it with one of the two Beast forms, its regular attack and death sounds are only heard if the minion enters play through a summon or put into battlefield effect (such as Alarm-o-Bot), causing it to skip the transformation.
- This is the only transforming Druid card where the two forms have different names than the original card.
