How to get[edit | edit source]

Strategy[edit | edit source]

This minion is Archmage, but with Taunt added to it. Despite this, it's not strictly better than Archmage since you may prefer to hide your spell damage behind a Taunt. As a Spell Damage minion, Violet Warden is fairly inefficient. It's usually better to play Kobold Geomancer or Mana Reservoir than pay 6 mana for the effect. As a Taunt, this minion is average, gaining +1/+1 on Fen Creeper for 1 mana.

Ideally, you want to use Violet Warden in a deck that can use both its Taunt and Spell Damage abilities. This is a fairly niche role, however it may have some use in Arena to stall the board and set up for a board clear.

Quotes[edit | edit source]

Lore[edit | edit source]

Violet Warden is highly similar in appearance to the Violet Hold Guards that protect the Violet Hold, a prison complex in Dalaran holding some of the Kirin Tor's most dangerous prisoners. However, while the Violet Hold Guards appear to be simple soldiers, Violet Warden seems to be more magically inclined, forgoing the sword in favor of magic.
