Strategy[edit | edit source]

Vereesa Windrunner's raw stats are not worth her mana cost, neither is the weapon she equips. However, as the weapon is a result of Vereesa's battlecry, having a weapon as well as a decent body together is overall worth it. Note that you cannot play her in a recruit deck, since she'd lose most of her value when summoned from hand or deck.

While the spell damage gained from Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury is temporary, it can help you either quickly finish a game with Kill Command and Rapid Fire, or it can ensure a clean field alongside Explosive Shot and Wing Blast.

Note that Secrets will not be powered up by Thori'dal's effect, as it will wear off at the end of your turn before your secrets can trigger.

Hunter damage-based spells[edit | edit source]

Name / Desc Rarity Class Cost Description
Arcane Shot Free Hunter 1
Deal 2 damage. Magi conjured arcane arrows to sell to hunters, until hunters learned just enough magic to do it themselves. The resulting loss of jobs sent Stormwind into a minor recession.
Kill Command Free Hunter 3
Deal 3 damage. If you have a Beast, deal 5 damage instead. "Kill!", he commanded.
Multi-Shot Free Hunter 4
Deal 3 damage to two random enemy minions. You see, it's all about throughput.
Baited Arrow Common Hunter 5
Deal 3 damage.
Overkill: Summon a 5/5 Devilsaur. The card is common, but the steak is rare.
Explosive Trap Common Hunter 2
Secret: When your hero is attacked, deal 2 damage to all enemies. It traps your food AND cooks it for you!
Marked Shot Common Hunter 4
Deal 4 damage to a minion.
Discover a spell. Obviously it's marked for greatness.
Rapid Fire Common Hunter 1
Twinspell
Deal 1 damage. Pew! Pew!
Snipe Common Hunter 2
Secret: After your opponent plays a minion, deal 4 damage to it. A great sniper hits the spot. Just like a delicious flank of boar. Mmmmm.
Explosive Shot Rare Hunter 5
Deal 5 damage to a minion and 2 damage to adjacent ones. Pull the pin, count to 5, then shoot. Then duck.
Wing Blast Rare Hunter 4
Deal 4 damage to a minion. If a minion died this turn, this costs (1). Emeriss uses Wing Blast. It's super effective!

Lore[edit | edit source]

From Wowpedia:

Vereesa Windrunner is the Ranger-General of the Silver Covenant. An elven ranger who fought throughout the Second and Third Wars, she is the youngest sister of Alleria and Sylvanas, widow of Archmage Rhonin Redhair, and mother of Giramar and Galadin. After becoming a ranger, she met Rhonin in an escort mission and together they helped free the Dragon Queen Alexstrasza from the Dragonmaw clan. Nearly all of Vereesa's extended family were killed by orcs in the Second War and in Prince Arthas's invasion of Quel'Thalas.
When Rhonin became leader of the Kirin Tor, Vereesa created and still leads the Silver Covenant, a militant core of high elves that rejected the admission of blood elves into the Kirin Tor and who took it upon themselves to serve as a military deterrent for any potential Sunreaver uprising. She styled herself as the "Ranger General of the Silver Covenant", her own version of the Ranger General of Silvermoon. After her husband's death and an act of treason both caused by the blood elves within the Kirin Tor, Vereesa joined Jaina Proudmoore, who succeeded Rhonin, in the Sunreaver Purge of Dalaran.
