Issue with editing wiki[]

Getting automatic block because it says I'm tring to add links at the end of an header or something. Trying to edit the Secrets page to fix incorrect information as follows:

The page should be fixed to state these trigger at the end of the opponent's turn. A start of turn effect strictly occurs after "Your Turn" has been presented to the player. See this Nat Pagle trigger here youtu.be slash v73sWhtPews?t=80 - Compare this with Rigged Faire Game triggering before "Your Turn" and while the button says "ENEMY TURN": youtu.be slash FhCYcCw6qrA?t=95 - The same goes for Competitive Spirit, its card text may state "When your turn starts," but it is really "at the end of your opponent's turn" - see youtu.be slash lyY8h90SriI?t=385 - Open the Cages same story youtu.be slash Pi8cq44VhyY?t=1145

This distinction came up with the release of Forged in the Barrens, where Rigged Faire Game can pull an angry Mankrik from your deck while it still your opponent's turn and their weapon is still active, causing your angry Mankrik to be damaged by its attack on the opponent's hero

Nice work[]

Hey, just wanted to say good job on jumping right on the new card info for Naxx :) I was hoping we could get everything uploaded and edited pretty quickly, since so many people come here looking for the latest info, and I think we did a great job! Hopefully we can get the hero powers and boss cards on the site as soon as possible too.

Edit: Lol, beat me to it by minutes ;) Again, good job! -- Cheers, Taohinton (talk) 11:11, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Golden Undertaker[]

Good job on getting the updated Undertaker images up so quickly! I'm curious how you managed to get a still of the golden version - normally I'd have to ask someone from Curse to import a copy, since the Hearthpwn golden is animated. I ask because doing it ourselves it would be a lot quicker and easier than having to ask and wait on Curse every time a card gets changed, which is the alternative. -- Taohinton (talk) 22:02, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Pricing[]

Do you have a source for all of the price data added to Blackrock Mountain or are you just assuming it will be the same as Naxx? :) I read this info on Hearthpwn: http://www.hearthpwn.com/news/800-blackrock-mountain-new-cards-card-backs-gameboard but haven't seen a full table of prices anywhere, in which case I'll add a note that these are predicted prices and not yet confirmed. -- Taohinton (talk) 17:44, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Never mind - I see they added a news blog since I last checked. Carry on! -- Taohinton (talk) 17:49, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

Brave Conqueror[]

I've deleted this page for now, as it appear to be a fake. Source seems to be a single image, in which you can clearly see the Conqueror card has been pasted over the top of another card (once you know to look for it!). If it does turn out to be a real card, I'll undelete it. In general, with so many fake cards flying around, I'd check for a reliable source before adding them to the wiki. -- Taohinton (talk) 17:36, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

On a vaguely related note, I've been meaning to say good job on adding all the info for the new cards to the wiki! It normally falls to me to do most of the heavy lifting, so it's great to have someone else taking on some of that work :) -- Taohinton (talk) 18:35, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Conversations[]

Something I should have mentioned a while ago - in discussions on talk pages, it's custom to keep a thread on the one page. So if you post a question on my talk page, I'll reply there; while if I post a question on *your* talk page, you should also reply there. This helps keep discussions together and makes them much easier to read through :) -- Taohinton (talk) 16:54, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Devonly[]

When adding new cards, you don't need to use "|devonly=true" - just include "|category=Upcoming". "|devonly=true" prevents the card from being included in upcoming card lists such as that on Inspire. -- Taohinton (talk) 18:17, 5 August 2015 (UTC)

Card categories[]

Pointing this your way :) -- Taohinton (talk) 18:26, 12 August 2015 (UTC)

Champions' Table[]

You are hereby summoned to the 2015 Champions' Table. -- Taohinton (talk) 22:08, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Whispers from Beyond[]

I noticed this section in the quotes for Whispers of the Old GodsC'Thun. What does this refer to - are these quotes spoken when C'Thun is buffed, or such? -- Taohinton (talk) 22:09, 26 April 2016 (UTC)

Thanks - the term seems to just be something the video person made up, and it's not clear what it means, so I've written a rough explanation for when those quotes get triggered.
As a reminder, please try to reply to conversations on the page they're already on - ie in this case reply here rather than on my talk page. Otherwise it makes reading back over conversations very confusing :P -- Taohinton (talk) 04:09, 27 April 2016 (UTC)

Cheers[]

Hey! I haven't been able to contribute as much as I would have liked lately, so I appreciate your work in getting various bits of the Kara stuff set up :) -- Taohinton (talk) 21:00, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

Zoom art[]

Hey, wanted to get your thoughts on this discussion, re: the definition and purpose of full art on the wiki. -- Taohinton (talk) 20:31, 25 August 2016 (UTC)

Heroic Brawl[]

I assume the info you're adding to the table is from an official source, but I haven't seen it on any of the usual sites (maybe they're just being slow). Do you have a link? -- Taohinton (talk) 20:57, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Hey, they add the list of rewards on the official post. Senescalzin 21:06, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, hadn't tried refreshing the page! Also I moved this back to here: wiki convention is for all messages within the same discussion to be on the same page :) -- Taohinton (talk) 21:09, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Cards and art[]

Re: the artist pages, I nearly left you a message a while ago letting you know the plan in case you wanted to help out; as you've seen, by converting all the individual card pages to use {{setartist}}, we can use {{List cards/Artist}} to automatically display the cards on each artist's page (much easier, and more reliable). The second part of the plan is that the latter template will also allow me to convert the main Artists page into something a bit simpler, but also comprehensive and self-updating, which since it is currently months out of date, would be a huge and pretty much future-proof improvement.

I've already converted all the individual card pages except for the boss cards. You're welcome to help out by switching them to {{setartist}}; you can find full lists via Boss card. In terms of artist pages, it looks like you copied the form on Unknown artist, which is a bit of an exception - normally you just want to type "{{List cards/Artist}}", unless the title includes funny characters in which case you can enter the title manually with |artist= . Don't use doc= though, because this will stop the artist from being added to the main artist category, which will be used to make the main Artists page run. As a rule I'd suggest leaving converting the artist pages until after the individual pages are finished, since this will be easier in case of missing cards.

In terms of the new Gadgetzan cards, as I mentioned on the community page, I'm sitting back a bit on the new stuff this time around, so if you want to take the lead on getting the new cards up as they're revealed you're more than welcome to do so. -- Taohinton (talk) 00:53, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Blizzard Entertainment[]

I notice you've set the artist for a lot of non-collectible cards as "Blizzard Entertainment", but you haven't cited many references. What is your source for this?

The pages previously tagged as "Blizzard Entertainment" or "Blizzard Cinematics" were specifically stated as such in the game client: this reflects that the art was created by the in-house team. My concern is that a lot of online sources will tag images for which they don't know the specific artist as being by "Blizzard Entertainment" simply because the art (and indeed the whole game) is copyright Blizzard Entertainment, and maybe also because they don't know what else to put. In this case Blizzard may own the copyright on the art, but they didn't create it: they commissioned it or licensed it from an individual artist. And it's this artist that should be credited, rather than Blizzard, which simply bought the art.

If there's good reason to believe the art was created by the in-house team, "Blizzard Entertainment" is correct, but we don't want to wrongly tag cards as such; if we don't know the artist, "Unknown" is the correct credit. I've reached out to the Hearthstone Artworks people to try to clarify what they mean by "Blizzard Entertainment", since they seem to be a common source of the credit. -- Taohinton (talk) 16:27, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

I am using this link [1] that belongs to Art_Hearthstone and it is listed as Blizzard Entertainment as artist in various cards! Senescalzin 16:30, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Yup, those are the people I have reached out to. Hopefully they'll reply so we can check what exactly they mean! -- Taohinton (talk) 16:37, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
The Hearthstone Artworks people have replied very promptly (and nicely!) and confirmed the "Blizzard Entertainment" credit means the artist is unknown.
Since this confirms what I suspected, I'd suggest ignoring such credits from third parties in the future; they likely similarly mean "We don't know the artist" rather than "This art was created by Blizzard Entertainment", despite how it appears. The wiki credits should therefore be reverted to "Unknown". -- Taohinton (talk) 16:59, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Ok, sorry about that incredibly mess that I did. The cards that were unknown but now have an artist name don't have to go back to Unknown? Senescalzin 17:02, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
No worries :) Yes, if you have stated an individual artist for a card, it should stay like that (and good job sorting out all the credits btw!). But those which were set to "Blizzard Entertainment" should be changed back to "Unknown". -- Taohinton (talk) 17:05, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

(Curse of) Naxxramas[]

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news again, but as explained on Talk:Card_set#Naming, the correct name for the set is "Naxxramas", not "Curse of Naxxramas". You can see this in the in-game collection interface (and the adventure interface). -- Taohinton (talk) 17:07, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Your opinion is desired[]

Your opinion is desired on some upcoming style changes throughout the wiki. The changes are due to be implemented this Friday, so please add your thoughts now if you wish to have a say. -- Taohinton (talk) 03:49, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Journey to Un'Goro art[]

Images don't need to be several MBs big. That's way too massive. Scale them down a bit before uploading. --DeludedTroll (talk) 18:22, 6 April 2017 (UTC)

Boomsday full art[]

I noticed you started uploading some Boomsday Project full art and citing it as coming from the https://blizzard.gamespress.com/Hearthstone site. However, I can't find any of the full art you uploaded on the press site. Are you sure that's where you got the art from? --DeludedTroll (talk) 17:53, 6 August 2018 (UTC)

Discord invitation[]

Hi there. Any chance you can join our Wiki Discord channel? There are some changes and private matters about Wiki that would be better if discussed there. Here is the invite link: https://discord.gg/dwuvyWYA. Use25 (talk) 15:51, 14 July 2021 (UTC)

Issue with mass editing[]

I had to revert all of the edits you made to Battlegrounds heroes articles and as well as removed duplicates of existing cards. Next time you want to conduct a mass of edits, contact me first or go to Discord channel (https://discord.gg/pJCYXfuaDs) to discuss before doing so.

About Battlegrounds heroes, I do acknowledge that the Armor system is currently disabled. However, they are not disabled permanently. I wish to keep them for now for perserving history AND in case the Armor system is in use again, I can query the existing customBattlegroundsArmorTier to change accordingly and add the changes to CardChange table. You were essentially deleting the history. If you wish to remove the Armor Tiers from infobox displays, you could've told me (I admitted, I forgot to hide the Armor Tier row before) first.

About Battlegrounds hero images, you didn't have to reupload the images. Also, we don't use the old resolutions anymore, so the visuals are being messed up in articles using query like Hero. I will reupload in the next Hearthstone major update.

About new cards, next time, you can go to Hearthstone Wiki:New cards to check all the card articles I already created automatically with the initial title like this: Crabby (82526). All you have to do is just to redirect the pages into the new suffixes you desire. There is no absolutely need to create another card article with the dbfId already in use.

If you have any question, you can reply here or Discord channel (https://discord.gg/pJCYXfuaDs).
