Card art

Good job on uploading full art for some of the cards (as well as screenshots). You might be interested in this gallery. It's a full collection of the original art for all the cards to date, although I'm not sure the quality is 100% on every file. -- Taohinton (talk) 23:25, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

IP addresses

Are you one of the anonymous users who've been adding artist attributions on Artist and individual pages? Just curious, as it relates to what you were asking about. -- Taohinton (talk) 04:08, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

No, it's hard to find artist credit for a lot of the uncollectible stuff without finding the art on their homepages. I wish it was me. I haven't had much time to keep contributing like when I first did. --Beanchagbear (talk) 17:19, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Artist names

Various artist names stated in-game have changed, possibly as part of last year's mass-corrections. In any case that's why a lot of the stated artist names are as they are; "Brian 'Chippy' Dugan" used to be the stated artist for those cards; now it's just "Chippy". They seem to have removed the "JP" from John Polidora's credits, as well. I don't have any strong preferences for how to handle the variation, just thought I'd explain in case you weren't aware. -- Taohinton (talk) 19:25, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for the heads up. When I was looking through at things I just noticed differences so I checked how they showed up in-game and changed some things to match that. Sorry, if that caused a problem. I admit I was kind of worried about changing those but at the time they seemed like needed changes, especially the 'Chippy' to "Chippy" one. --Beanchagbear (talk) 20:27, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

TCG

You might be interested in Talk:Card art#TCG. I've posted an explanation there regarding the relevance of TCG art info to Hearthstone, and why the two are not the same. -- Taohinton (talk) 18:22, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Boilerplating

Since you're the one adding most of the artist and gallery text to pages, if you'd like anything different for the (commented out) art sections I lay out when creating content pages, I'd be happy to change things accordingly. I try to lay things out so as to avoid wasted keystrokes, which quickly add up when adding content for a hundred cards at a time. -- Taohinton (talk) 23:34, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

I guess using {{PAGENAME}} as a default placeholder could save time typing page names. That should mean you'd only have to correct format and size if necessary (and remove comment tags), although obviously it wouldn't work with boss cards featuring "(Heroic)" etc. I'm always wary of it since moving the page will change its output automatically, but if it's of interest I can try adding it. -- Taohinton (talk) 23:39, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Hmm, using PAGENAME would certainly be the easiest in most cases, but it may take more work to have to be on the look out for edge cases that mess things up. Since, you're doing most of the heavylifting, then whatever is easiest for you works for me. How you've had it has worked well enough. I pretty much always use this exact format. [[File: full.png|thumb|left|400px|, full art]] Of course, with obvious changes to file format and size when needed. It allows me to just copy/paste the card/boss/whatever name into the right location with no backspacing required. The only other thing, is maybe make the artist into a stub-section for ease of edit, as I assume most things have an artist so we are always looking for that info when needed. Like I said, you do the work so what's best for you is best for me. At worst, a few seconds for me isn't that bad. --Beanchagbear (talk) 23:54, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Well, let me know regarding PAGENAME. If you're previewing before you save the edit, it should probably be clear if the name isn't correct, but I understand very well the risk of missing the edge cases through over-boilerplating. As for me I'm simply copy-pasting the text, so it's no difference to me. I'll try to remember to use .png if that's your preference; I wasn't sure which was the more common format!
I'd be hesitant to make the Artist section a stub, simply because of the risk of people adding an artist they think created the art, because it looks like their style, etc. I'm happy having that info only added by editors who are determined enough to edit the page specifically to add it, especially with people not always leaving references, which makes it hard to weed out solid info from guesses. -- Taohinton (talk) 22:19, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
I usually preview edits before I push them to make sure everything looks good, especially with art, so that should be fine. Jpg vs. png is tricky. Jpg seems to be common in many places but my source for the majority of LoE art has been png. Additionally, from what I understand png *may* be better quality bit the file sizes are much bigger. I don't believe we have a standard here on this wiki, I have usually favored quality, but on many other wikis it is important for file size and resolution to not be too big. It's always something I've questioned when uploading as it's easy enough to convert formats (though I'm unsure how good for the file that is). As for the artist point, that totally makes sense and so that should probably left alone. --Beanchagbear (talk) 22:36, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
