Strategy

Unstable Felbolt is similar to Soulfire or Spirit Bomb that has a above average effect while having a low cost but with a drawback of having a friendly minion (if applicable) taking 3 damage as well.

Unstable Felbolt is best used while you have no minions in play, making it equivalent to Holy Smite. It can also be used as a Deathrattle activator for cards like Serpent Egg and Voidcaller.

Lore

Felbolt is the main damage ability of the Fel Imp, and serves as a more powerful version of Firebolt. This particular felbolt appears to be cast by an augmented warlock of the Rusted Legion.
