Tyrantus is a legendary druid minion card, from the Journey to Un'Goro set.

How to get[edit | edit source]

Tyrantus can be obtained through Journey to Un'Goro card packs purchased online from the Battle.net shop, or through crafting.

Card Crafting cost Disenchanting
Tyrantus 1600 400
Golden Tyrantus 3200 1600

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Like all Elusive minions, Tyrantus cannot be the target of a spell or Hero Power from either player. However, it can be targeted by Battlecries and similar abilities, and attacks from minions and heroes. It can also be hit by area of effect and randomly targeted effects.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

While Tyrantus is a huge minion that rivals Deathwing in size and is harder to remove than Deathwing, the fact it costs 10 mana and has no immediate effect on the board makes it difficult to play without already having board advantage. But once the Jungle Giants quest is completed, a 0-cost Tyrantus is an extremely powerful minion to draw. Since it lacks a Battlecry, it is also one of the best minions Giant Anaconda or Oondasta can pull out.

Tyrantus is also one of the best targets for Menagerie Warden since it is a 10 mana legendary beast that has no other effect than its presence on the board. Using Menagerie Warden on it gives a 10 mana legendary value battlecry, plus the Menagerie Warden itself which is a 5/5. Playing a Tyrantus, then Brann Bronzebeard and a Menagerie Warden the following turn can lead to a quick game ending.

Lore[edit | edit source]

Tyrantus is a devilsaur that wanders around Eco-Dome Farfield in Netherstorm. Another devilsaur with the same name appears as an elite mob during the Un'Goro Madness micro-holiday in Un'Goro Crater.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

Although unconfirmed, multiple rumours suggest this was supposed to be for mage instead in beta, with a different name and artwork. It was supposedly deemed "too game-swinging" at the time.
