Rarity[edit source]

I believe the rarity for the Truesilver Champion is wrong in the weapons table, and that it should actually be 'Free' instead of 'Common'. I can not find how to edit it myself, and so am putting this information in the discussion folder. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.154.108.189 (talkcontribs) 22:31, 18 October 2014‎

As explained at Common, basic cards, including basic common cards, do not have a gem. They are nonetheless of common rarity. Truesilver Champion is such a card. -- Taohinton (talk) 19:51, 19 October 2014 (UTC)

Spiteful Smith[edit source]

Spiteful Smith should be included under the "Weapon Related Cards" list. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 49.158.117.137 (talkcontribs) 21:24, 15 March 2015‎

She's showing up for me. Maybe you're just not seeing her among all the other cards? Alternatively it may have been a temporary caching glitch, we get those fairly regularly. -- Taohinton (talk) 19:52, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Why no Blade Flurry?[edit source]

It's weapon-related, right? -- Karol007 (talk) 00:37, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

It was the buffering problem again. This happens so often, I've finally made a help page to link to to save repeating myself: Help:Missing cards. Feel free to follow these steps whenever you find a card missing from a list :) -- Taohinton (talk) 13:25, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Freezing the hero, Taunts, Stealth.[edit source]

Being frozen, attacking minions with Taunt, being unable to target Stealthed minions - this work the same whether we talk about minions or the hero, but frozen heroes can still use their Hero Power, although they can't attack themselves, neither with a weapon nor e.g. using Heroic Strike or Savage Roar. Is a short note about frozen heroes + a link within the scope of this article? -- Karol007 (talk) 14:24, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

I'm not clear exactly what you're saying, but it sounds like it would be more fitting to Freeze or Combat. This page is specifically about weapons. I've added a link above the Notes section to redirect newer players. -- Taohinton (talk) 05:28, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
Where do we want to put info about the freeze effects on heroes, especially with relation to heroes ability to attack with weapons and attack with their Hero Power?
There already is "Frozen heroes can still use their Hero Power while being Frozen, and can use cards and command minions as usual." at the very beginning of the Freeze article. Frozen heroes can't attack with weapons, but can equip and destroy them. Do we want this explicitly stated somewhere? A frozen hero can cast Heroic Strike e.g. to trigger Wild Pyromancer, but can't attack using it. Hero Power is a bit like an aura or a triggered ability of a minion - freezing doesn't change their effect, only silence can (but you can't silence heroes).
We have a few places with bits of information: Character, Weapon, Freeze ... Hero doesn't link to 'Character' although it has Hero#Strategy section.
Hero Power has no info about freezing effects and I think frozen heroes should be mentioned in the 'Hero Power' article and maybe even in the 'Weapon' article.
Saying 'a frozen hero can't attack' is not true. How to best share this information? I'm OK with moving this discussion to a more suitable place, but it involves many articles, so it's best to discuss it somewhere before making overlapping / duplicating edits and putting / removing info that should be linked. -- Karol007 (talk) 17:19, 15 January 2016 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay. I've reworked the intro to Freeze, making it more explicit that no actions other than combat are affected. I don't think we need to spell out every example, but I have specifically mentioned weapons at your request.
The word 'attack' is just one of those ambiguities built into the game itself; as you've noticed from Misdirection, Explosive Trap, Ice Barrier, etc. It's the same when the game says "that minion has already attacked this turn", or the way Windfury functions - effects like that of Knife Juggler are not included in this definition of "attack" any more than Hero Powers are.
I feel like the info we now have is probably sufficient. Ultimately, info about Freeze effects can be found on Freeze. Explicitly mentioning it seems overkill on Weapon, which isn't really about combat anyway, and I'm ambivalent about it on Hero Power. Freeze only affects combat/physical "attacks". I'm not sure we need to mention it on pages the subject of which aren't affected by it. -- Taohinton (talk) 19:26, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
I agree, not necessary to mention Freeze here. Freeze is about initiating combat, not about Weapons, which are far from the only way to gain hero attack power.
I also agree the Hero page is pretty confusing because "hero" means 2-3 different things and that page focuses primarily on the non-gameplay definitions. It's on my list of things to try to improve. "Attack" on the other hand is fairly consistent within Hearthstone to either mean "one hero/minion entering into combat with another character" (and not "any damage" as some people assume), OR "the Attack statistic of a character"; it's fair to expect readers to understand what it means - IF it's hyperlinked, except that right now there's no article for it which means all the explanations are scattered across multiple pages and people DON'T have that explanation. This might be the number one thing on my list. We definitely don't need to add this page to that chaos too, though :) - jerodast (talk) 09:47, 10 June 2016 (UTC)
Can you clarify the problem with 'Hero'? You mean the way a hero is used both for experience and levels, purchasing alternate heroes, etc, and in a more physical role within a match? -- Taohinton (talk) 00:11, 12 June 2016 (UTC)
That's it exactly. - jerodast (talk) 03:40, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Visual glitch[edit source]

I still sometimes get an unsheathed weapon on my opponent's turn, but I know this is just a glitch. Do we want to mention it here? -- Karol007 (talk) 14:29, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

I know this post was a long time ago, but, was the weapon buffed? Aegonostic (talk) 23:59, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

Text causing head hurt[edit source]

What does the following article text even mean? Let's start with the word enduring. :{}  :|  :\

Weapons are the only enduring source of hero Attack; all other sources are lost at the end of the turn.

I suggest deletion. Aegonostic (talk) 23:58, 3 September 2016 (UTC)

Enduring: adjective - continuing or long-lasting
I suggest it makes sense in the context presented: Weapons endure/persist/last/stick around for multiple turns; other Attack sources do not. However if you think another word would be more widely understood, be my guest. - jerodast (talk) 01:24, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
OHhhhh, so that's what it was trying to say, I will reword it. Aegonostic (talk) 05:01, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Lol, seriously, I tried to re-read that bullet note more than four times my first pass-through, and I still couldn't understand it. Thanks for clarifying. Aegonostic (talk) 05:19, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Just for reference I agree it's fine in context, maybe just a language barrier thing :) Re: The second part of that note I can see we have different approaches, so as a compromise I've simply re-added the "while" for the sake of flow. -- Taohinton (talk) 12:22, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
