Proof for Freezing/Explosive interaction[]

The edit I made came about through a Bug Report thread on the official forums. All secrets that see a valid event will trigger from that event. No secret stops itself from triggering from a valid event unless the board is full. Mirror Image and Noble Sacrifice need valid space in order to fulfill their trigger. In this case, Huffer may have been removed, but Explosive Trap still saw an attack event, and will trigger anyways.

WARNING: TURN DOWN YOUR VOLUME. I apologize for it being loud. I am definitely not a regular video recorder.

Seeing the conflict between your video and the statements of others, I went in-game to test a hypothesis, and found it to be true: Secrets which require specific targets will not activate if the specific target has been removed. This includes Misdirection and Freezing Trap. Secrets which do not require specific targets will activate regardless. This includes Explosive Trap and (presumably) Snake Trap, for example.
I don't have a video app to provide evidence, but you can test it for yourself fairly easily. I tested it by playing Explosive Trap followed by Freezing Trap, before being attacked by a 6/1 Boulderfist Ogre. The Ogre was destroyed by the Explosive Trap, and the Freezing Trap then did not activate. It went on to return the next minion that attacked, instead.
Between this evidence and yours, it seems pretty reasonable to see that secrets which are unable to fulfil their basic effect ("return this minion", "summon this minion", etc) will not take effect. Explosive Trap isn't affected by this because it's able to fulfil its effect regardless of the state of the board.
I've edited this page, LegacyMisdirection and Secret, and explained the correct mechanics there (the odd slip aside). -- Taohinton (talk) 14:17, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Feel free to provide further contradictory evidence, btw! If you do concur, you might want to delete your reply-comment on Hearthhead's Freezing Trap page. -- Taohinton (talk) 14:49, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Question: Cost increase cumulative?[]

I would guess that if a minion that has been returned via Freezing Trap has the misfortune to be returned again via Freezing Trap, the cost would still only be increased by two, but I would like to know if there is confirmation on whether this is true or if the cost increase can be cumulative. 73.228.236.183 17:46, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

When you re-play the minion and hover over it, its cost is back down to its original value. This is true of all cost-changing effects to my knowledge - cost changes aren't preserved once it hits the board. Therefore when it gets re-bounced its cost is only 2 above its original. I'm positive this has been tested directly as well although I don't have the link on me. It may be in the Advanced Rulebook or the "mana" article. - jerodast (talk) 19:50, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
