Notes

To edit these notes, go to Template:Spirit of the Tiger notes.

  • The Tigers summoned by Spirit of the Tiger have Attack and Health equal to the Cost of spells cast. For example, casting a 4-mana spell will cause Spirit of the Tiger to summon a 4/4 Tiger.[1]
  • Spirit of the Tiger's effect only triggers for spells that cost 1 or more mana.[2]
  • Spirit of the Tiger's effect only triggers for spells that the player plays from their hand. It is not activated by spell copies cast by cards such as Kobolds & CatacombsLynessa Sunsorrow or Journey to Un'GoroThe Voraxx.[3]

Lore[]

The Spirit of the Tiger is, as the name suggests, a spiritual manifestation[4] of Shirvallah, the tiger loa.

Trivia[]

  • Originally during the development of Rastakhan's Rumble, before Spirit cards were referred to as "Spirits", Spirit of the Tiger was known as "Shrine to Shirvallah". Shirvallah herself was designed really early on in the development process, but it took a while to find the right design for her accompanying Spirit. At one point, Shrine to Shirvallah was a 6-mana minion with the card text "Can't attack or be attacked. Your spells cast twice", but this ended up being fairly extreme when used in combination with powerful spells like LegacyAvenging Wrath or LegacyHoly Wrath. The card's design instead shifted to summoning Tiger minions; not only did this accomplish the team's goal of wanting the card to generate value on the board rather than just bursting down the opponent, commanding a group of tigers to attack one's enemies also felt more suitable for the paladin class fantasy than supercharging one's spells.[5]
