Strategy[edit]

At the start of each turn the Silverware Golem's Hero Power summons a free 1/1 Plate. While weak, these minions can quickly get out of hand due to buffs from the Golem's other cards: Knife gives all Plates Taunt; Fork gives them Charge; and Cup gives them +1 Attack. The Golem can also use Tossing Plates to summon 5 Plates. As a result, it's usually wise to remove both Plates and the other tableware minions as soon as possible. Continuing the cutlery theme, the Golem also uses a 1/3 Spoon as a weapon.

Special cards aside, the Silverware Golem also has spells that will heal him and grant Armor, such as Shield Block and Refreshment Vendor, as well as ways to gain mana or draw cards such as Nourish and Slam.

Normal[edit]

The fastest way to beat this boss is a deck that has plenty of AoE, as the Plates always have 1 Health. A good example is a mage with Arcane Explosion, Cone of Cold and Arcane Missiles, with the help of Flamewaker.

Heroic[edit]

Similar to normal mode, select mage and use AoE spells and Flamewaker to keep the board clear.

Lore[edit]

Medivh enchanted the dining room's silverware to "do a little dance before each course", but something's gone wrong with the magic in the tower, and now the silverware has melded together to form a Silverware Golem, who's a little too enthusiastic about serving dinner.[1]

"Ordinarily we’d welcome guests to relax in the dining hall with a nice spot of tea. Alas, they’re still decorating for the party, so we’ll just cut through the kitchens here. Our kitchens are almost completely magically automated, and we have dishes and silverware to serve hundreds of guests. Most of our tableware are priceless antiques, and a few were even gifts from the King himself! And voila—the kitchens!"
"Oh my! The tableware is singing. And dancing. Musical tableware isn’t on the approved decorations list, but the song is catchy, don’t you think? Medivh has been enchanting everything in sight to make sure that his party leaves a lasting impression, so you never know quite what will happen next. It is odd though . . . they’re normally so well behaved when the Master is home. Well, let’s move on, and please don’t feed the forks. It’s not dinner tine yet, ha ha. Ha. Um, right. This way, please." - Moroes[2]

Trivia[edit]

  • A removed 2/2 Plate minion appears to be from an earlier iteration of this encounter's Heroic mode; apparently the 1/1 Plate proved sufficiently challenging in combination with the other upgraded cards.
  • The name of the Silverware Golem's Hero Power and the designs of the enemy minions are references to the 1991 Disney film Beauty and the Beast.
  • The Silverware Golem's quote of "You get a plate! You get a plate! Everybody gets a plate!" is a reference to an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in which everyone in the studio audience was given a free car. During this giveaway, Oprah repeated the phrase "You get a car!" numerous times.
