|Set:||Ashes of Outland|
|Abilities:||Battlecry, Discard, Rush|
Battlecry: Discard your highest Cost card.
Throws shade at those "high-cost" minions.
How to get[edit | edit source]
|Golden Nightshade Matron||400||50|
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Nightshade Matron calculates cost including any in-hand discounts, rather than the base cost of the card. For example, if you hold a Flesh Giant discounted to 5 or less and a 6-mana Hand of Gul'dan, Nightshade Matron will discard Hand of Gul'dan.
Strategy[edit | edit source]
This minion has great stats and even comes with Rush, at the cost of discarding your highest cost card. This can sometimes arguably be worse than discarding a random card, as playing this card means you lose out on a big high-cost power play for the late game like Twisting Nether or Zzeraku the Warped instead of something cheaper and less relevant. For this reason, this card should not be drafted in a control deck, and should be in an aggro deck that can afford to lose some of its lower costing cards.
This card has fantastic synergy with Hand of Gul'dan, which can be target discarded to avoid paying its 6-mana cost.
Quotes[edit | edit source]
- You were just a burden.
- Try to keep up!
Lore[edit | edit source]
Nightshade Matron is a shivarra.
- The shivarra, or shivan, are a tall 6-armed female demonic species.
- Devout and exceedingly charismatic, these priestesses live only to evangelize the power of Sargeras' dread vision. They are the driving heart of the Burning Crusade and are thought to be three times as fanatical as the other demons. The most powerful shivarra are the Coven of Shivarra.
