Strategy[edit | edit source]
Lyra the Sunshard is a Priest card which functions as a superb value engine. Lyra in addition to Radiant Elementals can provide a player with a large supply of Priest spells to cycle through for very cheap, resulting in tremendous card advantage.
Priest spells that would kill Lyra, like Dragonfire Potion, will end the chain. You can also receive spells that require a target, like Potion of Madness or Shadow Madness - if no suitable target exists, these spells are uncastable and can end the chain if you have no other spells left.
Lyra is also an Elemental, and can substantially bolster the power of an Elemental Priest deck. While Elemental decks are usually creature-heavy, easily playable spells like Power Word: Shield and Shadow Visions can become worthwhile to include in these decks when combined with Lyra.

Choose a minion. Whenever it attacks, restore 4 Health to your hero. The promise of glory is a powerful tool to get minions to do your bidding. Only slightly less powerful than the promise of an ice cream bar!
Copy a spell in your opponent's deck and add it to your hand. She prefers calling it "Psionic Tickling."
Deal 5 damage to the enemy hero. This spell blasts you directly in the MIND.
Silence a friendly minion. Draw a card. Even better than a hot shower with vigorous scrubbing!
Deal 1 damage to all minions. We've got spirit, yes we do! We've got spirit, stolen from you!

Choose an enemy minion. Shuffle it into your deck. It's perfectly safe as long as you remember to put in air holes.

This turn, your healing effects deal damage instead. For when your Auchenai Soulpriests call in sick.
Discover a copy of a spell in your deck. This one’s a bird. And here’s a bunny!
Deal 5 damage to all minions except Dragons. No one was brave enough to fire the dragon in person… so they made the potion do it.
Choose an enemy minion. At the start of your turn, take control of it. Once you both get comfortable, darkness is actually pretty snuggly.
Deal damage to each minion equal to its Attack. This is what happens when you allow goblins to be priests.
Shuffle all minions into your opponent's deck. Everybody! Hit the deck!

Lyra is unique to Hearthstone. She is some form of powerful elemental being, ostensibly associated with the sun and possibly the Light. Peter Whalen describes her as "basically on the level of an elemental lord".
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Lyra the Sunshard came into being when the designers decided Priest needed to be "one of these trickier classes". Lyra was a 4 mana 3/5 initially, but proved to be too good in play-testing.
- Lyra's voice modulation is notably absent on certain mobile devices, causing her to sound more feminine.
