|Set:||Knights of the Frozen Throne|
|Abilities:||Remove from deck|
Whenever you play a card, remove the top 3 cards of your deck.
"What are your strengths?" the interviewer asked. "Well," she replied, "I'm really good at keening."
How to get
|Golden Keening Banshee||800||100|
Keening Banshee is a 4 mana 5/5, which is a 1 attack upgrade compared to the baseline 4-mana card, Chillwind Yeti. As a tradeoff for the above-average stats, it has a drawback similar to Fel Reaver, but with the trigger reversed, causing it to remove 3 cards from your deck whenever you play a card. This can force the player to either play few high-cost cards, or play little to no cards at all in most decks to prevent losing game-winning cards, as well as prevent losing in Fatigue. Due to this, it should be played in a deck that aims to kill the opponent early in the game, where the player shouldn't have to worry about entering Fatigue.
Keening Banshee is a decent card in arena due to it's above-average stats, and the fact that arena matches very rarely enter fatigue. When played on-curve in arena, it's unlikely the opponent will be able to remove it easily.
If playing Keening Banshee, it should typically be the last card played at the end of your turn, or you will unnecessarily discard extra cards.
- You brought me back?
- If I must.
- Banshees are incorporeal undead elf women, known for their unholy screams and the unsettling ability to possess the bodies of their enemies. Highborne and night elf banshees have existed since the time of the War of the Ancients, but many were also created when the Scourge invaded Quel'Thalas and slaughtered the majority of the kingdom's high elf inhabitants during the Third War. Many banshees now serve the ruler of the Forsaken, the "Banshee Queen" Sylvanas Windrunner.
- The male counterpart of the banshee is the spectre.
- Keening Banshee's summoning and attack quotes are references to lines spoken by the Banshee unit in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos.
