Jandice Barov can be obtained through Scholomance Academy card packs, through crafting, or as an Arena reward.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Jandice's Battlecry summons two random five-mana minions, then presents a choice between the two and places an Enchantment on the one the player selects. The enchantment causes the minion to die if it takes any damage.
  • The enchantment's visual effect is a blue aura around the card. To the opponent, the visual will appear on both summoned minions until one of the minions takes damage or is removed from the board.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

The biggest upside of this card is the possible stats. While her base body is a mere 2/1, Jandice can make sizeable boards for only 5 mana. Another potential upside is the ability to pull powerful Deathrattle minions like Convincing Infiltrators, Al'ar, Waxadred, or even end of turn effects like Sandhoof Waterbearer. Minions with Rush can also be useful, giving them the illusion to crash into a minion while still leaving a full-size body in play.

You don't always have to pick the best minion to mark as the fake. It can be valuable to play mind games with the opponent, tricking them into wasting damage. This should generally only be attempted when both minions are of similar value - it's probably a bad idea to make Earth Elemental the fake over a Waste Warden, for example.

To the opponent, Jandice effectively creates two 1-health minions. This makes small Area of effect spells like Immolation Aura and Arcane Missiles excellent for dealing with the fake and killing Jandice herself. Pings like Fireblast can be efficient counters to Jandice's illusion, but only if you're certain about which one is the fake.

Mages can use cards like Conjurer's Calling to transform Jandice or her summon into more useful minions for their stats, and Rogues can use cards like Shadowstep and Daring Escape to replay the battlecry and swarm the board with illusions. In both classes, Potion of Illusion can be a powerful combo that adds Jandice and both 5-mana minions to the hand, letting you cheaply reuse their Battlecries.
