Additionally, Idols of Azeroth was one of nine Tavern Brawls featured as part of the 100th Brawl, A Cavalcade of Brawls!. Its mechanics were used by, of course, the druid class.

Overview[]

This Tavern Brawl sees players doing battle with decks composed solely of 30 copies of The League of ExplorersRaven Idol, allowing players to repeatedly Discover either minions or spells.

Strategy[]

While the decks for this Brawl are premade, the character of the Brawl is almost entirely random. Class selection still affects play due to Discover only discovering class-appropriate cards.

Like other heavily random Tavern Brawls, resourcefulness and flexibility is generally more effective here than premade strategies. However, some classes do have specific advantages.

  • The variety of Mage spell-related minions can prove useful due to the unending supply of Raven Idols. LegacySorcerer's Apprentice in particular allows for insane momentum in the early game by giving the player free Raven Idols.
  • The low cost of Raven Idol can be useful for activating Rogue Combo effects.
  • Using offensive spells to deal direct damage to the enemy hero is a viable strategy, putting pressure on the opponent as healing effects aren't as easy to come by. The Mage and Shaman classes excel at this given their wide array of damaging spells and draw power.
  • Choosing pure Spells as a Hunter can offer various advantages, as they have a good amount of control spells and means of token generation, such as Whispers of the Old GodsCall of the Wild and Kobolds & CatacombsCrushing Walls. Kobolds & CatacombsTo My Side! in particular is a good pick as you will always fulfill the card's condition of having no minions in your deck. The WitchwoodRat Trap is especially good, giving you a 6/6 body on the field while your opponent plays Idols from their hand to Discover cards that they may not be able to play yet.

If you can you get hands on The WitchwoodPrince Liam, your entire deck will be replaced with legendaries.

If you do decide to use a Knights of the Frozen ThroneSkulking Geist, remember that it will obliterate both you and your opponent's deck and every unused Raven Idol.
