Holy Wrath full

Who says flavor text has no effect on gameplay?

Holy Wrath Paladin or Combo Paladin is a Paladin deck type. It revolves around dealing 20+ damage from hand with LegacyHoly Wrath through drawing LegacyMolten Giant or Rastakhan's RumbleShirvallah, the Tiger.

The combination of Holy Wrath + Molten Giant has gained a huge amount of consistency through the inclusion of the Journey to Un'Goro card Journey to Un'GoroHemet, Jungle Hunter, allowing the Paladin to thin out their deck to ensure that the Holy Wrath hits their target for as much damage as possible. The gameplan of the deck is to rapidly cycle through their deck with card draw during the early and mid-game, and setup for the finishing blow with Holy Wrath in the late game. Due to the removal of Molten Giant from the Standard format at the start of the Year of the Raven, Holy Wrath Paladin became a Wild exclusive deck (while also losing damage due to being buffed back from 25 to 20 mana). However, with the addition of Shirvallah, the Tiger in Rastakhan's Rumble the deck returned to the Standard mode.

The strategy of the archetype is to thin out their deck with high amounts of card draw, then drop Shirvallah or Molten Giant for around 0 mana and use The WitchwoodBaleful Banker on it. This will guarantee Holy Wrath will hit for its maximum damage. The deck often uses Knights of the Frozen ThroneUther of the Ebon Blade as an alternative win condition in case their opponent out-armors or otherwise nullifies their main combo, outlasting until all four Horsemen can be summoned.
