Strategy[edit | edit source]

Harvest Golem is generally considered a solid choice for a 3-cost minion, due largely to its Deathrattle. The Golem is commonly referred to as "sticky", meaning that it is hard to remove from the board.

The combined stats of the Harvest Golem and the Damaged Golem equal a 4/4, making the card stat-efficient. However, this card differs from similar options such as Dragonling Mechanic in that the latter Golem is only summoned upon the death of the former.

This has both advantages and disadvantages. It prevents the player from attacking simultaneously using both minions, but it also prevents the opponent from destroying both minions in a single turn, or using a single AoE attack. This can be useful for recovering from board clearing abilities such as Flamestrike, and also requires the opponent to use two separate attacks in order to remove the minions summoned using only a single card. Note that if the Harvest Golem is destroyed during the opponent's turn, the Damaged Golem will be ready to attack on the owner's turn.

As a low-cost and hard to remove Mech, this minion can be useful in enabling conditional abilities such as Goblin Blastmage.

If you take control of a Harvest Golem with Potion of Madness or Shadow Madness and then destroy it, the Damaged Golem will permanently remain on your side.

Lore[edit | edit source]

From Wowpedia:

A Harvest Golem from World of Warcraft
Harvest golems are mechanical constructs programmed to hunt down and terminate the human inhabitants of Westfall. Though their origin is uncertain, some believe that only the wily goblins could have created these mechanical monstrosities. Others speculate that the Defias Brotherhood had the harvest golems built to scare off the local inhabitants of Westfall so that they could run their smuggling operations with greater impunity. Whatever the case may be, the harvest golems have done their jobs well - eliciting terror in anyone foolish enough to roam the fallow fields of Westfall alone.
Three qualities make a harvest golem so terrifying: its surprising speed, its harmless appearance, and its merciless battle tactics. A harvest golem appears at first to be a common scarecrow. Only a closer examination reveals its snarling face, glowing eyes, and unnaturally long arms and dagger fingers — and by then it is usually too late.
