Demons are a type of minion. Demons are most closely tied to the warlock class, and are often unusually powerful for their mana-cost, but come with a negative effect for playing them.

Demons are evil immortals who feed upon magic and life. They delight in inflicting suffering, spreading corruption, and, of course, destroying all that is good. Most demons were once mortal. Not all demons are sentient: various animals have been transformed into demons, for instance.
Warlocks bind demons to their will; these infernal denizens defend their masters with their lives or rain death upon their enemies. At first, they command only the service of imps, but as a warlock’s knowledge grows, seductive succubi, loyal voidwalkers, and horrific felhunters join the dark sorcerer’s ranks to wreak havoc on anyone who stands in their master’s way.
The Twisting Nether is home to an infinite number of malefic, demonic beings that seek only to destroy life and devour the energies of the living universe.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

Playing a Demon often involves a detrimental Battlecry effect. For this reason Demons are risky to play and some Demons should only be played in very specific circumstances. It is recommended to avoid the Battlecry effects of certain Demons by playing them when the Battlecry will have no effect. For example, playing a Succubus or Doomguard while having no other cards in hand will not make you discard cards as you have none to do so. Void Terrors cause you to sacrifice two other minions, however if the minions are already about to die due to having been buffed with Power Overwhelming, nothing is lost.

Cards that can summon demons without playing them can overcome these downsides. Cards like Voidcaller, Possessed Lackey, Skull of the Man'ari, and Krul the Unshackled can summon a demon from the deck or hand without activating their Battlecries, bringing them out with none of the downsides involved. Resurrection effects like Bloodreaver Gul'dan also summon demons without activating Battlecries.

While all class-restricted Demons are exclusive to the warlock class, a range of neutral ones exist as well. Neutral demons include Illidan Stormrage, Prince Malchezaar, Sneaky Devil, Street Trickster, Void Ripper and Imp, from Imp Master.
