Chromatic Mutation is a boss spell added with Blackrock Mountain. It is believed to be part of an earlier version of the Chromaggus encounter, but appears to have been archived prior to release.

- As noted on the
Chromatic Dragonkin page, the early design of the Chromaggus boss encounter would cause the player's hero to transform into a Chromatic Dragonkin.[1] It seems likely that this card would have been used to transform the player's minions as well.
- Note that the actual Chromatic Dragonkin minion is 2/3 instead of 2/2, and is played normally by Chromaggus during the encounter.
