Strategy[edit | edit source]

Captain Shivers plays a Kingsbane deck to his fullest. As with Kingsbane in regular matches, it starts off weak but grows stronger as the goes longer until it eventually gains a massive amount of Attack to constantly hit your face with. Not only that, his Hero Power makes sure he always has his Kingsbane to attack with every turn and his Cursed Crewmember and Dead Man's Hand lets him delay Fatigue for longer.

He does have one major weakness, however: his deck contains Fel Reavers. Since his Hero Power is on autocast, there will be one turn where his Kingsbane is in his deck. Use this opportunity to try to mill his Kingsbane, and the fight becomes much easier. For that purpose, it might help getting Cult of the Wolf and spending the first 2 turns getting 3 zero cost A Small Rock. Then when he plays the Fel Reavers, you can mill a lot of cards for free. It might help also getting Potion of Vitality so that you can last longer and absorb some damage.

Alternatively, if he plays Lorewalker Cho or Trade Prince Gallywix, you can attempt to fill his entire hand with spells, and when his Hero Power activates it will burn his Kingsbane. This does come at the downside of giving him some card advantage, however.

Another strategy, albeit risky, is to beat him at his own game if you have Tools of the Trade. With the Stake Thrower, when he plays Lorewalker Cho, apply all the weapon buff spells you have on you like Deadly Poison and Leeching Poison, then repeat the next turn when Shivers buffs his weapon. If you have Leeching Poison, since you can attack twice per turn you should be able to outheal him.

It should be noted that with the nerf to Leeching Poison to only last a single turn, it has made this boss significantly easier since he no longer sustain himself as effectively late game.
