How to get[edit | edit source]
Barrens Stablehand can be obtained through Classic card packs, through crafting, or as an Arena reward. Golden Barrens Stablehand can also be obtained through the Highest Rank Bonus chest at the end of each Ranked season.

Strategy[edit | edit source]
A solid Arena card. Strong pulls include Stranglethorn Tiger, King Mukla, King Krush, and Core Hound. Even getting an Ironfur Grizzly is a 7 mana 7/7 with upsides split between two bodies. However, the high number of misses and this minion's restricted cost make it undesirable for Constructed play.
Because of the huge range of stats and effects beasts have, Barrens Stablehand is best played when ahead on the board to reduce the cost of missing.

Whenever a friendly Beast dies, gain +2/+1. Hyenas prefer the bones of kodos or windserpents, but they'll eat pretty much anything. Even Brussels sprouts.
At the end of your turn, deal 1 damage to another random friendly minion. Were you expectorating another bad pun?
Battlecry: Summon two 1/1 Desert Hares. After they're caught, they're dessert hares.

Poisonous The Sholazar Basin is home to a lot of really horrible things. If you're going to visit, wear bug spray. And plate armor.
Deathrattle: Draw two 1-Health minions from your deck. Pride cometh before the maul.
Battlecry: If you control a Lackey, deal 3 damage. Dr. Boom had one simple request: wasps with flippin' laser beams attached to their heads.
Battlecry: If you control a Secret, summon two 2/2 Hyenas. Everything the sun touches is ours—so long as it's already dead.
Battlecry: Destroy a random enemy minion with 2 or less Attack. This Kodo is so big that he can stampede by himself.
Deathrattle: Summon two 2/2 Hyenas. In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion gets slowly consumed by hyenas.
Can't be targeted by spells or Hero Powers. Take these broken wings, be reborn, and learn to fly again.
Battlecry: Destroy a Murloc and gain +2/+2. Murloc. It's what's for dinner.
Deathrattle: Deal this minion's Attack damage randomly split among all enemies. Pokey-man. Gotta spike 'em all!
Has +3 Attack for each other Dread Raven you control. Fun Fact: A group of three Dread Ravens is an unkindness. Four is lethal!
After your hero takes damage on your turn, summon a random 3-Cost minion. He's off the twig! He's kicked the bucket! THIS IS AN EX-VULTURE!

- The Barrens is a large zone in central Kalimdor controlled mostly by the Horde. It is a massive savanna, with a few oases in the north-central region around the Crossroads. Before the upheaval, several large kaldorei cities stood here. Now, those brave few willing to scrape out a life on the arid plains inevitably run afoul of centaur warbands or quilboar raiding parties. Despite its often uninviting terrain and hostile inhabitants, the Barrens receive a good deal of interest from Alliance and Horde alike, as well as races native to Kalimdor. Trade routes crisscross the landscape leading to and from more inviting regions, and the most notable route is the Gold Road that runs north-to-south through the Barrens and beyond. Rumours suggest that precious minerals and treasure-filled ruins await those with the courage to investigate.

- Barrens Stablehand, along with Brightwing, High Inquisitor Whitemane, SI:7 Infiltrator, and Arcane Devourer, were added to the Classic set in patch 188.8.131.52761 to make up for the Classic cards that have been moved to the Wild format in the Hall of Fame set.
