What is Hearthstone?

Hearthstone is a free-to-play digital strategy card game that anyone can enjoy. Players choose one of nine epic Warcraft® heroes to play as, and then take turns playing cards from their customizable decks to cast potent spells, use heroic weapons or abilities, or summon powerful characters to crush their opponent.

Do I need to know anything about strategy card games or Warcraft to play?

Not at all! We’ve designed Hearthstone so that anyone can get into it, no matter how familiar they are with the Warcraft universe or collectible card games. The game will teach you everything you need to know as you play it.

On which platforms is Hearthstone available?

Hearthstone is available for Windows®, Macintosh®, iPad, Android and Windows 8 tablets, and iOS and Android mobile phones.

What are the system requirements for Hearthstone?

The most up to date information on system requirements can be found here: https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/hearthstone-system-requirements

How do I get my hands on this game?

Just go here to download with your Battle.net account!

Will I be able to add friends in Hearthstone and chat with people?

Yes! The folks in your Battle.net friends list (both BattleTag and Real ID friends) are available for games or text-based conversation. Players will not be able to chat with anyone who is not on their friends list. However, players will be able to choose from a variety of emotes for basic communication during games.

How do I get Hearthstone™ on my iPad®?

You can download Hearthstone from the iTunes® app store!

Do I need a Battle.net® account to download Hearthstone from iTunes?

You can download the game from iTunes without a Battle.net account, but you’ll be asked to create one after completing the introductory missions. If you already have a Battle.net account, you can log in when you launch the game.

What versions of the iPad does Hearthstone support?

You can play Hearthstone on the iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation), iPad Air™, iPad (4th generation), iPad mini™, and iPad mini™ with Retina.

Does Hearthstone support Retina display?

Yes!

Will my collection on PC be the same as on iPad?

Yes! Since you will be logged into your Battle.net account, your collection will be shared across all platforms.

Do I need an Internet connection to play on my iPad?

Hearthstone can connect to Battle.net over Wi-Fi, or a 3G cellular connection if your iPad has one enabled.

Will there be another wipe of our collections at any point ever?

No. We will not be performing any wipes of Hearthstone data.

How much space will Hearthstone take up on my iPad?

Hearthstone is about 480MB when downloaded from iTunes and about 700MB when installed.

Will the iPad version of Hearthstone support my Battle.net Authenticator?

Yes, you can use the same Authenticator you have tied to your Battle.net account.

Do in-app purchases get deducted from my Battle.net Account Balance or the credit card I have attached to my Apple account?

Card pack and Arena entries will be paid using the payment method attached to your Apple ID—not the payment method attached to your Battle.net account.

I added a Battle.net Balance code to my account, but when I’m making purchases on my iPad it isn’t using that balance.

Any purchases made while playing Hearthstone on your iPad will pull from the payment you have set up on your Apple ID, not from your Battle.net account. In order to use your Battle.net Balance to make purchases in Hearthstone, you will need to log into the game from your PC or Mac. Any purchases made on the PC/Mac version of the game will also be available to you on the iPad version of Hearthstone.

How does Hearthstone determine which Battle.net region I should connect to when creating my account?

The Region Format setting under Settings>General>International determines your account’s default region. You can change this during account creation, but be careful! This will determine where your collection will reside and which friends you are able to see and interact with online. [However, players are free to switch between regions at any time using the Global Play feature.]

Someone in my family wants to create their own account on our shared iPad. Is that possible?

Yes! You can log out of your account and then grandma can create her own Battle.net account. When she does, she’ll start with the introductory missions.

Who do I contact if I have problems with Hearthstone on the iPad?

For in-game purchases, please contact Apple customer support. If you experience issues with the game or Battle.net, please contact Blizzard Entertainment.
